Coinbase Data Breach Suspect's Phone Stored Over 10,000 Customer Records

BlockBeats News, September 17th, according to court documents related to the Coinbase data leak case, TaskUs (Coinbase's outsourced customer service company) employee Ashita Mishra from the Indore center in India has been stealing sensitive customer information since September 2024, including Social Security numbers and bank accounts, and selling them to hackers for $200 per photo to be used in impersonating Coinbase employees to scam users.


Mishra had over 10,000 pieces of customer data on her phone's memory, allowing her to capture up to 200 account information photos per day. This breach has affected over 69,000 customers and is expected to cost Coinbase up to $400 million in losses. (Fortune)
