BlockBeats News, October 15th, according to The Block, New York City Mayor Eric Adams signed an executive order to establish the first-ever Mayor's Office of Digital Asset and Blockchain Technology in the United States. The new office will promote the responsible use of digital assets and blockchain technology and will be led by Moises Rendon, who has been working in the New York City digital asset space for over a year.
The office is dedicated to coordinating collaboration between the cryptocurrency industry and the government, working with federal and state governments to advance policies that attract compliant and value-creating blockchain and cryptocurrency projects. At the same time, the office will focus on attracting talent to ensure that New York City remains competitive in the field of financial innovation. Adams has been supportive of cryptocurrency during his tenure, having taken his salary in Bitcoin and hosted a cryptocurrency summit. However, his term is set to end at the end of the year, as he announced last month that he would drop out of the race due to issues such as campaign funding.
