Galaxy Managing Director: Cryptocurrency has become mainstream and requires appropriate centralized safeguards.
BlockBeats News, September 14th. BlockBeats reporter reports from the front line of Token2049 that Chris Rhine, the Managing Director of Galaxy, stated in the "Institutionalization of Digital Assets" panel at Token2049 in Singapore that:
"Original cryptocurrency investors are very focused on decentralization. However, when you want to truly expand a technology, you need to provide security for users. My view is that to truly bring cryptocurrency into the mainstream, more centralization needs to be introduced. This helps establish trust with users, and if problems arise, someone will be on their side, rather than a completely decentralized system where they only worry that no one will help them.
I believe that in the next five to ten years, we will see more and more companies and enterprises enter the cryptocurrency field. They will sit on top of decentralized blockchains, but they will establish protective packaging measures around their services and products. This will help provide insurance terms for users and larger institutions, allowing them to use them with confidence and knowing that they will be supported."
