The United States and the United Kingdom are investigating $20 billion in crypto transactions that violated Russia sanctions laws
BlockBeats News, on March 29, Bloomberg reported that the United States and the United Kingdom are reviewing more than $20 billion in cryptocurrency transactions conducted through a Russian virtual trading platform. The payments under review were made using the U.S. dollar-pegged cryptocurrency Tether (USDT) through Garantex, a Moscow-based cryptocurrency trading platform, people familiar with the matter said.
It is reported that the United States and the United Kingdom imposed sanctions on Garantex in April 2022 for allegedly helping money laundering, terrorist financing, and ransomware attacks. The $20 billion deal would be one of the most serious breaches since the sanctions began.
