The total number of EigenLayer tokens is 1.67 billion, and 45% of the tokens will be allocated to the community
According to BlockBeats, on April 30, The Block reported that the total supply of EigenLayer tokens at the time of release was 1.67 billion. The foundation has allocated 45% of the tokens to its community. This is further broken down into pledge airdrops (15%), community programs (15%), and ecosystem development (15%).
In addition, 29.5% of the tokens have been allocated to investors, while early contributors will receive 25.5%. The total lock-up period for allocations to investors and early contributors is three years. The first year involves a full lock-up, followed by a gradual release of their total holdings at a rate of 4% per month over the next two years.
EigenLayer calls community airdrops "pledge airdrops" because users can pledge Eigen tokens to secure EigenDA and future AVSs, and 15% of the token supply will be distributed to users participating in the platform. These tokens will be distributed over multiple seasons.
In the first season, the foundation will distribute 5% of the token supply to users based on a snapshot of pledge activity on March 15, 2024. In this first season’s distribution, 90% of tokens will be distributed to eligible re-stakers on May 10 — with a 120-day claim window. The final 10% will be distributed in the second phase of the first season, which will take place a month later.
