Ethereum to Introduce New Consensus Layer Proposal - Beam Chain

2024-11-12 18:32

BlockBeats News, November 12th, according to on-site Devcon news, Ethereum Foundation (EF) core researcher Justin Drake announced the Beam Chain proposal to reset the Ethereum consensus layer.

Justin Drake stated that the Beacon Chain (Ethereum's consensus chain) has been launched for five years. Beam Chain will make improvements in Ethereum block production, staking, cryptographic consensus, and other aspects, and the new design will maintain high security and improve performance.

Drake mentioned that Beam Chain will not change the Ethereum roadmap but will instead bundle a set of upcoming changes together. It is expected that Beam Chain will establish specifications in 2025, start writing production code and testing in 2026, and then consider mainnet deployment.

Furthermore, Beam Chain will provide excellent onboarding opportunities for new consensus client teams in other parts of the world. For example, Zeam in India and LambdaClass in South America.
