BlockBeats News, November 14th, according to Fortune report, Trump's social platform Truth Social may merge with Musk's X Platform (formerly Twitter). Data shows that Truth Social had a revenue of only $2.6 million in the third quarter of this year, with 698,000 monthly active users on mobile and 11.3 million monthly website visits; in comparison, X Platform is expected to have an annual advertising revenue of $2 billion, 70.4 million monthly active users, and a website traffic of 1 billion visits per month.
Director of the Northwestern University Center on Communication and Public Policy, Erik Nisbet, stated that since Musk took over, X Platform's content style has gradually moved closer to Truth Social. Both platforms are pitched on "free speech" and mainly target a conservative audience. Data shows that 57% of Truth Social users consider it a daily news source, while X Platform is at 59%.
Regarding content moderation, X Platform still maintains relatively strict standards, having banned about 5.3 million violating accounts in the first half of this year. This is mainly because the platform needs to maintain its relationship with large corporate advertisers. On the other hand, Truth Social has almost no advertising business, hence its content moderation is relatively lenient.
Industry insiders believe that the potential merger is more commercially meaningful for Trump and could serve as his cash-out exit strategy, as his current stockholding value is around $3.3 billion.
