Earlier today, BlockBeats reported that according to an official announcement, OpenAI has announced an architectural adjustment, abandoning its previous plan to restructure as a for-profit company. It will continue to be controlled by a non-profit organization, and its for-profit entity will transition to a "Public Benefit Corporation" (PBC).
On December 1st last year, Musk's lawyer applied for a preliminary injunction against OpenAI, its several co-founders, as well as its investors and close partner Microsoft, to prevent OpenAI from transforming into a for-profit company. Musk's accusations against OpenAI include: OpenAI preventing investors from supporting OpenAI's competitors, such as Musk's AI company xAI; benefiting from "illegally obtained competitively sensitive information" through OpenAI's relationship with Microsoft; transforming OpenAI's governance structure into a for-profit structure and "transferring any material assets, including intellectual property owned, held, or controlled by OpenAI and its subsidiaries or affiliates"; compelling OpenAI to transact business with any organization in which any defendant has a "significant economic interest."
