New York City Mayor Doubles Down on Advancing Cryptocurrency Agenda Ahead of Cryptocurrency Summit on May 20th

2025-05-13 09:35

BlockBeats News, May 13th, according to Cointelegraph, New York City Mayor Eric Adams announced that the city will partner with financial firms to advance cryptocurrency-related initiatives. Financial services company Figure founder June Ou and private equity firm Traction and Scale CEO Richie Hecker will serve as advisors to help drive the city's development in the digital asset space.

Adams stated that the city of New York is focused on the long-term value of these technologies rather than chasing trends. He also emphasized that New York City welcomes companies operating in the cryptocurrency, blockchain, Web3, or fintech sectors.

Since taking office in 2022, Adams has incorporated digital assets into his policy platform and announced that the city will accept Bitcoin as salary payment. He also announced in April that New York City will host a crypto summit on May 20th.
