BlockBeats News, June 8th: On June 5th, the U.S. Department of Justice filed a civil forfeiture lawsuit against over $7.74 million in cryptocurrency assets, alleging that the North Korean government engaged in a scheme where a group of individuals disguised as IT workers were employed remotely, received payment, laundered the proceeds in stablecoins, and sent them back to North Korea to evade U.S. sanctions and fund military programs. This network operation was coordinated by Sim Hyon Sop, a representative of the North Korea Foreign Trade Bank, and is currently under investigation by the FBI.
