BlockBeats reported on June 10 that SlowMist founder Yu Jian stated on social media that he is also a victim of the Bitcoin wallet Alby. A total of 0.00174788 BTC (equivalent to $191.96) in his Alby wallet was transferred out by the platform. The reason it was able to be transferred was due to the fact that this was a custodial account managed by Alby, and he was unaware of its platform policies. Upon checking his emails, Yu discovered that Alby had sent an email on May 1, 2025, notifying users about updates to the platform's terms. Subsequently, the BTC in his wallet was transferred out on May 26, 2025.
Previously, multiple community users reported that the balance in their Bitcoin Lightning Network wallet on Alby appeared to have been deducted by the platform. According to Alby's official documentation, an update to the terms of service in March 2025 stated: "Users have been consistently notified for over a year to withdraw excess funds from old Alby accounts created in 2023 or earlier, which utilize the shared wallet architecture. To manage these long-inactive accounts more effectively, the platform reserves the right to deduct the entire remaining balance from any account that has no transaction activity (i.e., no completed transactions) for a continuous period of 12 months."
