BlockBeats News, June 20th, White House Press Secretary Levitt quoted Trump as telling reporters: "Based on the likelihood of recent talks with Iran, I will decide whether to intervene in the next two weeks."
Levitt said Trump intends to seek a diplomatic solution with Iran, but his top priority is to ensure that Iran cannot obtain nuclear weapons. Any agreement must prohibit Tehran from uranium enrichment and eliminate Iran's ability to produce nuclear weapons. "The President is always interested in a diplomatic solution; he is a peacemaker. Therefore, if there is a diplomatic opportunity, the President will always seize it. But I must add that he is also not afraid to use force."
Levitt refused to disclose whether Trump would seek congressional authorization for any strikes against Iran. She said Washington still believes that Iran has never been closer to obtaining nuclear weapons. Levitt said Trump received a briefing on Israeli actions on Thursday and that if Iran does not agree to stop its nuclear weapons work, it will face serious consequences. (FXStreet)
