WSJ: CoreWeave Is in Talks to Acquire Core Scientific

BlockBeats News, June 27th, according to The Wall Street Journal report, CoreWeave is in talks to acquire Core Scientific. About a year ago, this AI company attempted to acquire the digital infrastructure company but the deal fell through.


Sources familiar with the matter said that as long as the negotiations proceed smoothly, the transaction could be finalized in the coming weeks. The specific terms of the negotiations are currently unclear, but Core Scientific has grown rapidly recently and may receive a significant premium.


CoreWeave provides cloud infrastructure for AI capabilities and is a partner of several major tech companies. According to its IPO filing, Microsoft is its largest customer, accounting for 62% of CoreWeave's revenue in 2024. CoreWeave acts as an intermediary, leasing Nvidia graphics processing units to companies such as Meta and IBM.
