BlockBeats News, October 24th, according to Axios, Maxine Waters, the top Democrat on the House Financial Services Committee, criticized President Donald Trump's pardon of Binance founder CZ yesterday.
Waters strongly condemned Trump's latest move in a press release on Thursday, pointing out that the U.S. president chose to "brazenly advocate" but did not vigorously push for the reopening of the government that has been shut down. "Trump's pardon of Binance founder CZ... horrific yet predictably reflects his governing nature: rampant corruption, prioritizing self-interest, loyalty to criminals rather than American working families."
Waters accused that this pardon was the result of CZ's months-long lobbying of Trump and his family, while funneling billions of dollars to Trump-affiliated cryptocurrency company WLFI. "This pardon is a reward for a quid pro quo, a blatant example of Trump and his government's continuous engagement in kleptocracy," Waters wrote in a statement, emphasizing that the actions of the Trump administration "essentially legitimize" CZ's convicted cryptocurrency crimes.
