BlockBeats News, November 1st, the WeChat Security Center released the October 2025 Moments Hot Rumors, with "Can π Coin Be Exchanged?" ranking sixth on the list. The WeChat Security Center stated that some netizens on social platforms posted short videos claiming "Now the bank branches have started approving π Coin," sparking attention. Upon verification, it was found to be false information. The video content showed a "π"-shaped approval specialist window at a local service center, which has no relation to the rumored "π Coin" and is a misinterpretation of the "π"-shaped approval specialist window. A "π-shaped approval specialist" refers to a highly composite approval talent with expertise in at least two professional domains, capable of integrating multiple knowledge areas. "π Coin" is a virtual currency based on blockchain technology, utilizing a unique mining method and a centralized network architecture, and is the abbreviation of the English Pi Network.
Researcher Lou Feipeng of China Postal Savings Bank stated that the news of "π Coin" being exchangeable for RMB is also false. The sole legal institution for currency issuance in China is the People's Bank of China. Virtual currencies like "π Coin" are not issued by the People's Bank of China and have no exchange relationship with the RMB. Previously, many local cyber police have issued risk warnings that the free mining of "π Coin" is a scam to resell users' personal information and deceive them of their money.
