Ethereum developer tools platform Hardhat has turned into a non-profit organization, and A16Z, V God and others have donated $15 million
On February 10, Nomic Labs, the parent company of Hardhat, the developer tools platform for Ethereum, announced that it is transforming itself into a non-profit organization and will change its name to "Nomic Foundation". The goal is to improve the developer ecosystem of the protocol.
Nomic, which was founded in 2018 and will be renamed the Nomic Foundation, has raised $15 million so far and is aiming to raise $30 million, CEO and co-founder Franco Zeoli said in an interview. According to Nomic, donations came from the Ethereum Foundation, Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin, as well as some crypto trading platforms and venture capital firms, Including Coinbase, Consensys, Andreessen Horowitz (A16Z), The Graph, Polygon, Chainlink, A_Capital, and Kaszek Ventures.
According to Zeoli, 23,000 GitHub libraries or development projects use Hardhat, and well-known cryptoprojects including Uniswap, ENS and AAVE are Hardhat users.
