In a word, the action of voting is not equal to democratic self-government, but is only one of the alternative means of governance in a democratic self-government.

Although voting governance is the default governance means of DAO, in the Web3 brand market scheme I have been exploring recently, assuming the large-scale application of DAO mode in the Web3 brand market, in addition to the mnemonic problem, the DAO voting problem is also a big problem that hinders scale.

However, before that, I would like to briefly mention why DAO turned into a cold state with the bear market shortly after the rise of Web3. The key lies in the fact that DAO is subject to the historical limitation of Athenian democracy and the paradox of decentralization and centralized governance caused by voting governance, and the pace of innovation is trapped in the repeated dissociation of exploration.

The essence of Defi DAO is based on the autonomy of shareholder capital, while the DAO of project + community has to face the problem of public governance. Currently, the DAO field has not developed a new democratic system belonging to the future society, which is a topic that needs to be overcome in the DAO field from the level of social theory.

Therefore, we start from the theory, from the Athenian democracy, to explore the theoretical basis of democratic society, learn from the history of the democratic system construction experience.

The political structure of the city-state of Athens

We cling to the idea of the Athenian democracy of voting for everyone, and the Athenian democracy did indeed create a beautiful ideal of the city-state that the history books have written about, and that has been celebrated throughout history. But if we're going to achieve this model of governance, it's important that we understand how Athenian democracy was created and how it worked.

The establishment of Athenian democracy required several key conditions. We need to discuss the causes and consequences of its democratic system under the historical premise, and analyze the establishment and operation mechanism of its system.

In fact, voting was not the core of Athenian democracy. The establishment of Athenian democracy depended on the historical conditions deposited by the Greek city-state. All kinds of factors are not replicable in today's modern society, but the obvious and floating voting action was named as the symbol of democracy and became the marketing symbol of contemporary democratic politics.

The inherent belief in governance mechanisms

The qualitative difference of DAO existence

As a kind of on-chain autonomous organization, we need to distinguish between the two discussion contexts of Crypto and Web3. For example, DAO in Defi field is mainly about investment management rather than management related to production activities. We can understand the operation logic of Crypto-based DAO through DAICO, which can be a paradigm representative of DAO.

Web3-based DAO involves the property rights relationship between production activities and means of production, not only the governance relationship at the capital level. The DAO concept of Web3 is to realize the autonomous organization of social activities, such social activities include life and work, and the whole development path tends to include infinitely close to the real social activities.
