On June 5th, Opside officially announced the launch of its first public zkEVM chain. This milestone marks that Solidity developers worldwide can now deploy decentralized applications and related interaction contracts on the chain without restrictions. In addition, the PoW ZKP mining function is also launched synchronously, and miners can join the Opside test network at any time to contribute computing power and generate ZK proofs for ZK-Rollup, thereby obtaining corresponding point rewards.

Since the launch of the Pre-alpha testnet on May 24, 2023, Opside has been running smoothly. As of the time of writing, the total transaction volume on the Pre-alpha testnet has reached 2,025,201, with 45,214 independent users participating. Currently, 1,731 nodes are running stably, working together to maintain the stability and security of the Opside network.

Universal zkEVM Chain

The newly launched ZK-Rollup will serve as the official public zkEVM chain for Opside, providing an open and accessible runtime environment for all developers. This ZK-Rollup chain is built on the open-source code framework of Polygon and has been improved to provide excellent programmability and user experience. The emergence of the universal ZK-Rollup chain has opened a door to the world of ZK for Solidity developers worldwide, who can now deploy on the universal zkEVM chain and experience the groundbreaking technological revolution of ZK-Rollup firsthand.

Custom zkEVM Chain

Currently, the Opside ecosystem is expanding rapidly, with over 25 high-quality projects participating. Especially for those projects that require high throughput, they will soon have their own ZK-Rollup chain. This feature will allow these project parties to deploy their own applications, while fully utilizing the resources of the chain and further optimizing their operations. At that time, developers or project parties who meet the necessary conditions can generate ZK-Rollup chains, browsers, bridges, and other necessary settings with one click through the ZK-Rollup Launchpad. Of course, as part of the comprehensive service provided, the Opside network will also provide basic functions such as data availability layer and computing power.

One key point of the Opside model is that the sovereignty of the ZK-Rollup chain belongs entirely to the project team. They can freely set gas fees, token gas prices, and choose the zkEVM SDK that best suits their project requirements, including Polygon zkEVM, Scroll, zkSync, and others. Currently, most dApps are actively deploying, and more projects are applying to join Opside. It can be foreseen that there will be a vibrant and diverse ZK-Rollup ecosystem in the future.

PoW Mining

As the universal ZK-Rollup is launched, Opside PoW ZKP mining has also been synchronized and opened to miners. As an important part of the ecosystem, PoW miners can contribute their computing power to generate ZK proofs for each ZK-Rollup and receive loyalty point rewards. Opside welcomes all miners to join, and it is reported that large miners such as Ingonyama and Bitmain have already committed to participating in the Opside Pre-alpha test network.

Opside officials have announced that the PoW whitelist application window is now closed. In less than a month, Opside received 2,201 applications from 52 countries. Previously, in order to encourage more participants to join and promote the long-term development of the ecosystem, Opside also specifically adjusted and lowered the entry threshold for miners. It is worth mentioning that Opside also plans to launch a GPU version of ZKP mining around the end of July.

ZK-Rollup as a Service

The launch of the universal ZK-Rollup and PoW ZKP mining is undoubtedly the highlight of this round of incentive testnet in the encryption industry.

The launch of the universal zkEVM indicates the imminent opening of Opside ZK-RaaS (ZK-Rollup as a Service) functionality. Opside welcomes developers and projects from around the world to deploy on the universal ZK-Rollup chain and help Opside test its stability and performance.

On the other hand, the launch of PoW ZKP mining represents a significant improvement in the security and performance of the Opside network. By leveraging the computing power provided by miners, Opside can generate ZKP for all ZK-Rollups, achieving a more decentralized and powerful ecosystem while ensuring network stability and integrity.

Since the launch of the Pre-alpha incentive test network, Opside has been undergoing market validation while constantly innovating. The launch of Public zkEVM and PoW ZKP mining undoubtedly proves Opside's unremitting efforts towards the mainnet, while also validating the great market potential of ZK-Rollup as a Service and the inevitable trend of universal ZK technology in the future. Looking ahead, we hope to see more innovators and pioneers like Opside emerge in the industry to build the ZK ecosystem together.
