Milady and BAYC's "August Showdown" is about to come to an end. Who will emerge victorious?
Yuga Labs wants to have its own market? Will Meebits have a big move?
LUCI: Chapter 5 and Winds of Yawanawa are receiving high praise, and art-related NFTs continue to make a strong impact?
BlockBeats takes you through a review of last week's NFT news!
On the prediction market Polymarket, there is a bet between Milady and BAYC that is about to reveal the winner, which I refer to as the "August showdown" between Milady and BAYC.
The bet is whether Milady's performance in August can outperform BAYC. The prediction started on August 15th, using Milady's floor price (4.4 ETH) and BAYC's floor price (28.8 ETH) as a benchmark. By 12:00 PM Eastern Time, whichever project has a greater cumulative increase (or smaller decrease) will win the bet. Currently, this prediction has attracted nearly $18,000 in bets. As of the time of writing, the order book data shows that the share for Milady's victory has a bid of 31 USDC, while the share for buying BAYC's victory has only 8-9 USDC bids. It seems that people have more confidence in Milady winning.
Over the past week, the floor prices of Milady and BAYC have shown different trends. Milady appeared somewhat weak after a rebound on August 20th and fell, while BAYC showed signs of a bottoming out rebound, with the floor price rising above 25 ETH.
Milady and BAYC price trends
Recently, Su Zhu's concept token has attracted market attention (recommended reading: Crypto King Su Zhu Returns, OLAS Surges Over 10 Times in Half a Month). In the NFT market, the Su Zhu concept target we can find is Milady.
Su Zhu uses Milady as his Twitter profile picture and recently mentioned on friend.tech that Milady is worth 50-100 ETH.
Milady has been empowered on the CEX Open Exchange (OPNX) co-founded by Su Zhu. One of the rewards for staking the platform token $OX is called "Justice Token", which is a Meme Token that serves as compensation for the mental damage caused by online harassment. For example, $FMT, which stands for FatManTerra, is evenly distributed among RLB, LUNA, LUNC, and OX holders because of the beef between FatMan and these four, which has had a significant impact on their development. Currently, two Justice Tokens have been issued, $FMT and $DUDAS. In the visible future, the chaos in the crypto world will not stop, so more Justice Tokens will be issued. The total supply of each Justice Token will be 1 billion, and 5% of the total supply will be airdropped to Milady holders.
$OX staking page description of Justice Token
In addition, on August 19th, OPNX official account initiated a vote with the text "Milady perpetual contract?". The vote had 853 users participating, with 71.3% of users voting in favor.
Will the concept of Su Zhu help Milady win the "August Showdown" against BAYC? Currently, Milady has fallen by about 4.545% since August 15th, while BAYC has fallen by about 9.72%. It is still unknown who will come out on top. The situation is uncertain, and both of you are dark horses!
Last week's NFT news article mentioned Yuga Labs "declaring war" on OpenSea due to its enforcement of optional royalty policies, and the possibility of Yuga Labs having its own NFT marketplace like projects such as Pudgy Penguins.
On August 23rd, Yuga Labs CEO @dalegre was a guest on Rug Radio founder @farokh's Twitter Space. During the Space, @dalegre did not confirm whether Yuga Labs will have its own NFT marketplace. It seems that the possibility of Yuga Labs having its own NFT marketplace has increased.
During the Twitter Space, @dalegre also mentioned that there will be "big news" for Meebits in the coming months, and they are doubling their efforts to build the Meebits brand. However, the market has almost no reaction to this news, and last week's rise in Meebits was a short-term "bottoming out rebound" style, just like BAYC.
Meebits price trend last week
@waleswoosh summarized the key points of this Twitter Space:
- Google has a "early BAYC atmosphere".- The essence of Yuga Labs is not a game company, but a "community company that makes games"- Yuga Labs' mission is to "build culture on the blockchain."- Yuga Labs supports royalties and supports creators.
- Yuga Labs has not confirmed whether they will have their own NFT marketplace.- Otherside is a way for the community to come together without relying on other platforms.- The next Otherside journey will soon begin, but there is currently no specific time.- Koda will provide a unique experience, but there are currently no specific details available.- The vision of CryptoPunks is to become an iconic brand focused on art, collaborating with museums and currently working on a book about the history of CryptoPunks.- Meebits will have "big news" in the coming months and is working doubly hard to build the Meebits brand.- How does Yuga Labs view its NFT holders: holders are not just "consumers", the value created for holders is included in the experience provided by Yuga Labs for holders, and these experiences aim to create the intrinsic value of NFTs.
The latest series LUCI: Chapter 5 "Monument Game" by artist @SamSpratt was released on August 21 and was a great success. The 256 "game tickets" were sold out in 30 seconds at a price of 3.33 ETH, and the 1/1 artwork "IX. The Monument Game" was purchased by @1OF1_art for a high price of 420.69 ETH.
The "Game Ticket" is priced at 3.33 ETH for sale.
Shoot for 420.69 ETH in "IX. The Monument Game"
@SamSpratt is a prolific 1/1 digital artist, painter, and writer who began his artistic journey in New York in 2011. He has created artwork for magazines such as Rolling Stone and Variety, as well as musicians Janelle Monae, Donald Glover, Kid Cudi, among others. He has also designed comics for Marvel and created art for games including Angry Birds, Red Dead Redemption 2, and Tomb Raider.
Before "IX. The Monument Game," he had already created and sold 8 digital paintings about "Luci," which looks like a southern ape, through auctions. "Luci" is a series of digital paintings created by @SamSpratt, released in fragments, telling a developing story about rediscovering the oldest human values in the post-historical world. The first painting was released in October 2021, and since then, in the 8 digital paintings released so far, Sam Spratt's LUCI has generated primary sales of $1.4 million and additional secondary sales of about $690,000. Among these 8 paintings, "VII. Wormfood" was sold at Christie's auction house for $252,000, and "VIII. Infinite Ceremony" went even further, selling for $263,000.
@SamSpratt there is also a series called "Skulls of Luci", with a total of 50, and the current floor price is 190.69 ETH. The holders of "Skulls of Luci" include a range of well-known NFT creators/collectors, such as @punk6529, @fewocious, @osf_rekt, @Vince_Van_Dough, and so on. These holders of "Skulls of Luci" are also known as "Luci Council members".
The function of 'Game Tickets' is to 'observe' the painting 'IX. The Monument Game' in order to win 3 out of 50 'Skulls of Luci', and thus compete for 3 seats on the 'Luci Council'. The so-called 'observation' is simply writing one's own 'impressions' of 'IX. The Monument Game'.
"Observation Records" of "Game Ticket" Holders
On August 24th, the "Observation" ended. "Skulls of Luci" will review all the "Observation" results and decide the final three winners.
"Observation" winner's prize - "Skulls of Luci"
Although the "observation" has ended for several days, the floor price of "game tickets" is still strong. Currently, the floor price of "game tickets" displayed on OpenSea Pro is 6.88 ETH, which is twice the issuance price, and there are only 12 orders. Perhaps benefiting from the good price performance of "game tickets", the "Skulls of Luci" series also sold for 90 ETH on NFT DEX NFT.org, which is the highest historical ETH price.
The sale price of 3.33 ETH was sold out within 30 seconds. I found a point where I could brag about myself after the fact. That night, I chose to go to bed directly because I thought either it would sell out instantly and I wouldn't be able to grab it, or it wouldn't sell well and the cost of 3.33 ETH would make me go crazy, unable to eat or sleep, immersed in regret. The result was perfect - I got a perfect night's sleep!
Another art NFT series that took off last week is "Winds of Yawanawa" by @refikanadol's studio in collaboration with young artists from the Amazon Yawanawa tribe. The series has a total of 1000 pieces, of which 650 have already been minted at a price of 1.3 ETH. Even before all pieces have been minted, the current floor price is more than 7 times the minting price. The remaining 350 pieces will have 50 pieces available for public sale on September 30th.
Winds of Yawanawa is a collection of 1000 unique data paintings that utilize weather data from Amazon rainforest tribal villages, including wind speed, gusts, direction, and temperature. These data are then merged with the works of young artists from the Yawanawa tribe of the Amazon, resulting in captivating effects that incorporate traditional shapes, forms, textures, and colors.
「Winds of Yawanawa」
Currently, "Winds of Yawanawa" has not yet been released. The release is scheduled for September 30th.
Although "Winds of Yawanawa" is surging, the information that @refikanadol announced on August 26th about the old series "Machine Hallucinations" that it will start the static-to-dynamic burning mechanism on August 31st did not attract much market attention. "Machine Hallucinations" was released 2 years ago and was created using AI combined with 113 million pictures of New York City. The lack of market attention is based on trading volume, but in terms of floor price, the current floor price is 1.3 ETH, which is almost doubled compared to early August.
Art is a mystical subject, and the combination of art and NFT is even more mysterious...
This is the second issue of "Rhythm NFT News". August is about to pass, and we hope that "Rhythm NFT News" can better accompany you in September.
For me, despite the NFT market in August being completely different from the hot summer, I still had a lot of fun. For example, my Garbage Friend finally evolved from "garbage bag" to "garbage can" after 30 days. Also, I played "The Boys of Summer by Mitchell F. Chan" more than 30 times, but my "baseball boy" still couldn't get an MLB last place signing in virtual life. Life, ah...
Of course, skillful operations are as fierce as tigers, but when it comes to calculating profits, I seem to be that fool...
What interesting NFT stories have you experienced in the past August? I think they must be very fascinating :).
