On October 12th, we are thrilled to announce the official rebranding of Opside to Lumoz! This marks an important step in Lumoz's development journey. At the same time, we hope to take this opportunity to help global users better understand and apply ZK-Rollup technology, promote the large-scale implementation of application chains based on zkEVM, and further drive the innovation of ZK technology.
Lumoz (formerly Opside) officially launched its testnet at the end of May this year, and it has been running smoothly for 5 months with continued high enthusiasm from the global community. As of now, we have more than 240,000 independent users, 25,000+ PoS nodes, and 100+ PoW miners. In addition, more than 15 project parties have passed official audits and generated customized zkEVM application chains on the Opside platform.
Over the past year, Lumoz (formerly Opside) has achieved impressive results. In the current RaaS (Rollup as a service) arena, Lumoz (formerly Opside) is the first and only platform that focuses on ZK-Rollup as a Service and provides underlying computing power.
The name Opside comes from Operator, but as Optimistic Rollup gradually enters the public's view, we have found that more and more users mistakenly classify Opside as the Optimistic Rollup track.
In addition, Opside has steadily developed in 2023, successively launched important user functions such as Pre-Alpha testnet, ZK-Rollup Launchbase, ZKP Two-step Algorithm, NCRC protocol, and has good communication and cooperation with many leading zkEVM, modular components, third-party service providers and other players in the ZK track, covering and involving most of the vertical directions in the track.
In summary, the functions implemented and provided by Opside can no longer be simply described using the term "Operator". Additionally, the original name may cause some unnecessary misunderstandings. Therefore, we believe that a comprehensive brand upgrade is necessary.
After determining the Rebranding, the team quickly took action and conducted multiple long brainstorming sessions internally, and consulted and listened to suggestions from hundreds of users from the global community and senior practitioners in the industry. Finally, the new name was confirmed as "Lumoz".
Of course, if someone is familiar with Lumo, they will know that it is also similar to the orbitals of molecules, similar to Layer2.
Therefore, we hope that Lumoz can become a beam of light in the ZK track, illuminating the way forward for the large-scale implementation of ZK-Rollup.
Since its inception in 2022, Lumoz (formerly Opside) has been committed to the mission of making it easier for users to understand and use ZK-Rollup technology. To this end, Lumoz (formerly Opside) was the first in the industry to propose the concept of ZK-RaaS (ZK-Rollup as a Service), which meets the needs of developers to create customized ZK-Rollup (zkEVM application chain) based on multiple L1s.
Within a little over a year since its inception, the Lumoz (formerly Opside) team has persistently overcome obstacles and achieved various milestones. In May 2023, with the launch of the Pre-alpha incentive testnet, the small-scale testing of deploying zkEVM application chains with one click was a complete success. In August of the same year, the official ZKRollup Launchbase underwent a major update, adding support for ETH/BSC/Polygon testnets as options for the Rollup L1 main chain, as well as providing various modular components such as DA/shared sequencers.
Nowadays, more and more developers/users are creating customized zkEVM application chains through Lumoz (formerly Opside) no-code ZK-Rollup Launchbase. This indicates that Lumoz's vision of making ZK-Rollup accessible is gradually being realized.
In addition, it is worth mentioning that during operation, the official will also provide underlying computing power for general ZKP calculations through the Decentralized Prover Network. The project only needs to focus on subsequent operations, which greatly reduces the threshold for using ZK technology and the operating costs of the project, and also effectively promotes the large-scale popularization of ZK-Rollup technology.
With this brand upgrade, it is believed that the outside world has also seen Lumoz's (formerly Opside) long-term commitment to buidling in the ZK-RaaS direction. Looking ahead, we will also strictly follow the planning of its roadmap.
· Support for more zkEVM types: Currently, Lumoz (formerly Opside) supports zkEVM types including Polygon zkEVM and zkSync, and is expected to support Scroll, StarkNet, etc. in Q4. In the future, by continuously expanding support for zkEVM types, Lumoz (formerly Opside) will meet the needs of more developers and projects, thereby promoting the widespread application of ZK-Rollup technology.
· Continuously optimizing ZKRollup Launchbase: Although the current ZK-Rollup Launchbase can already meet the demands of most people, in our plan, these are just the basics. In the future, Lumoz (formerly Opside) also plans to provide more modular components (such as integrating more third-party DAs) and functions to further simplify and accelerate the deployment of zkEVM application chains.
· Continuously expanding ecological cooperation: As of now, Lumoz (formerly Opside) has achieved some success in ecological development, with nearly a hundred ecological projects covering various fields such as GameFi, DeFi, NFT, Social, Tool, etc. In the future, we will actively seek opportunities to cooperate with more high-quality projects, and hope to strengthen effective innovation in practical application through in-depth cooperation, while sharing resources and traffic, and effectively promoting the application of ZK-Rollup technology.
· Develop miner ecology and reduce CPU & GPU entry barriers: With the gradual maturity of ZK-Rollup technology, hundreds or even thousands of ZK-Rollups may be born in the future, which will inevitably bring great demand for ZKP computing power. Lumoz (formerly Opside) currently uses the ZK-PoW mechanism to incentivize miners to provide ZKP computing power, thus providing complete hardware infrastructure for ZK-Rollup. Therefore, miners will be an important part of the entire ecosystem network. To this end, the official has also been actively adjusting the entry barriers for CPU & GPU. Currently, the ZKP two-step submission algorithm mechanism proposed by the official has greatly improved the efficiency of ZKP generation. In the future, we will also make more efforts at the software and hardware levels to maximize the protection of miners' rights and interests.
· Boosting the popularity and promotion of ZK-Rollup technology: While constantly seeking technological breakthroughs, we also hope to make more people understand and apply ZK-Rollup, and push it to the forefront of more widespread applications. Therefore, in the future plan, Lumoz (formerly Opside) will not only participate in more industry summits/exchanges, but also actively teach developers and users about ZK-Rollup through hackathons, RaaS Day, and other means, and provide support and guidance to help them better use ZK technology to achieve innovation in their respective fields.
The potential of ZK-Rollup technology is undoubtedly significant, and Lumoz (formerly Opside) firmly believes in this. Therefore, this brand upgrade not only demonstrates our determination but also reflects our attitude.
Here, we sincerely invite all Web3 Builders to join the Lumoz (formerly Opside) network, witness this transformation, and become a part of the ZK-Rollup revolution.
Currently, the Lumoz (formerly Opside) testnet is continuously open for participation by interested community users, developers, and industry enthusiasts. Participants can contribute their efforts and earn points, which can be exchanged for the mainnet token of Lumoz (formerly Opside) when it launches next year.
