October 16, 2025 — Pioneering company Sentient Labs in the field of open-source General Artificial Intelligence (AGI) announced today the official expansion of its East Asia market footprint through the initiation of a grand campus tour series and corporate collaboration plan. The company is dedicated to advancing and popularizing AGI technology innovation and has previously secured a $85 million seed funding round from global top investors including Peter Thiel's Founders Fund and Pantera Capital.
As the dissemination of AGI technology accelerates, mainstream AI tools remain predominantly closed-source systems with vague value orientations and unclear boundaries. Sentient Labs views China and East Asia as key forces in the democratization of open-source AGI technology. China is continuously strengthening open AI ecosystem development, with open-source models such as DeepSeek and Alibaba's Ling-1T undergoing iterative enhancements, empowering entrepreneurs, researchers, and students to actively engage in AI innovation.
Sentient Labs Co-founder Sandeep Nailwal elaborated on the company's vision: to broaden the development path of open-source AGI. He specifically stated, "We see the young generation in China and East Asia as a key force in co-building AGI, and their early involvement will directly contribute to shaping the future of open AGI."
From October 24 to 31, 2025, TinTinLand will collaborate with Sentient Labs to co-host the "Sentient East Asia Tour" in Shanghai, Beijing, Tokyo, and Seoul.
· October 24, 2025 — Open AGI Workshop, Beijing · Tsinghua Science Park
· October 26, 2025 — Open AGI Workshop, Shanghai · Shanghai Jiao Tong University
· October 28, 2025 — Open AGI Workshop, Seoul, South Korea
· October 31, 2025 — Open AGI Workshop, Tokyo, Japan
Prominent guests for this event include: Professor Fang Zhixuan from Tsinghua University, Researcher Yang Zhuolin from Nvidia Application Deep Learning Institute, AI Ph.D. students Wooming Song and Jaehyun Nam from KAIST. They will engage in in-depth discussions on open-source AI topics with Sentient Labs researchers Edoardo Contente, Professor Sewoong Oh from the University of Washington, and Sheng Peiyao among other team members.
Developers, students, researchers, and investors will gather together to explore Sentient's technical architecture and vision, including AGI tool localization practices for the Chinese, Japanese, and Korean communities. Previous roadshows at universities such as Fudan University and Shenzhen University have attracted over 1500 participants, and co-founder Nailwal has personally attended the events to interact directly with young tech talent.
