Tonight, US Senators will vote on advancing the Stablecoin Regulation Act.

2025-05-19 17:53

BlockBeats News, May 19th, according to the U.S. financial media Semafor, after a previous failed attempt, U.S. senators are expected to vote again tonight to advance legislation establishing rules for stablecoins, according to a source familiar with the matter.

Another source said Senate Minority Leader Schumer held a conference call with all caucus members on Sunday to discuss unpublished text, including reforms sought by the Democrats. However, these adjustments are not enough to win the support of progressive figures like Massachusetts Democratic Senator Elizabeth Warren. She released a memo stating that the latest version of the ban does not target relevant digital assets, "promoting Trump's cryptocurrency corruption."

A third source said negotiations are underway regarding potential additional amendments, with banks privately expressing their concerns, including questions about the issuer's ability to pay interest.
