A Russian woman has been sentenced to 7 years in prison for defrauding $23 million worth of Bitcoin

BlockBeats News, June 27th, according to The Daily Telegraph, a Russian woman claiming to be a cryptocurrency expert has been sentenced to 7 years in prison by a Moscow court for planning and executing a Ponzi scheme in 2023, defrauding investors of $23 million (22 billion rubles) worth of Bitcoin within 60 days.


The woman, named Valeria Fedyakina, is from Simferopol. She impersonated a legitimate global cryptocurrency trader under the alias "Bitmama," promising clients that she could use cryptocurrency to transfer funds overseas to bypass Western sanctions.
