The EU will accept Trump's proposed "Unified Tariff" plan but seeks key exemptions.

2025-07-01 01:57

BlockBeats News, July 1st, according to sources familiar with the matter, the EU is willing to accept a trade agreement with the United States, which includes a 10% "uniform tariff" on many EU export products. However, the EU hopes the US will commit to lower tariffs on key industries such as pharmaceuticals, alcohol, semiconductors, and commercial aircraft. The EU is also pushing for the US to set quotas and exemptions to effectively reduce the 25% tariff on cars and automotive parts, as well as the 50% tariff on steel and aluminum.

Sources say EU Trade Commissioner Maros Sefcovic will lead a delegation to Washington this week to push the negotiations forward. The European Commission also hopes to ensure that the current sectoral tariffs implemented by the US (such as on cars and metals) and the future tariffs planned by the US are addressed.
