Sweeping Away Last Week's Vision, US Initial Jobless Claims See Largest Drop in Nearly Four Years

2025-09-18 20:44

BlockBeats News, September 18th, the US Department of Labor released data on Thursday showing that the number of initial unemployment claims decreased by 33,000 to 231,000 for the week ending September 13.

The number of initial unemployment claims in the US recorded the largest drop in nearly four years, reversing the sharp increase from the previous week, also in line with the relatively low level of layoffs in the economy. A Bloomberg survey of economists showed a median forecast of 240,000 claims. The number of continuing claims fell to 1.92 million in the previous week. (Soo Daily)
